Your hair, make-up, nails and everything else must be done at home and you must be ready for your session when you come to the studio.

Hair and make-up for ladies should be worn the same way as you would wear it to a special evening out.

Be sure to bring your make-up and hairspray for touchups as needed.

If you have longer hair, hair should be worn down and full instead of pulled back off the face.

Guys, don’t wear baseball caps to your session. You end up with a ring around your hair and head in your photographs.

Both men and woman should stay away from high gloss hair gels that make the hair very reflective. The glossy gel on hair reflects light which may be distracting in the final image.

Eye makeup should be blended - no sharp demarcation lines between colors.

Avoid white above or below the eyes. It does not photograph well at all.

Too much color above and below the eyes attracts attention to itself. It actually takes attention away from the eyes, rather than attracting the viewer to the eyes.

Foundation makeup should be blended at the jawline, so that there is no demarcation between the face and the neck.

Use a good coverage base foundation and lots of loose powder to diminish flaws and blemishes and control shine.

Apply your eye and lip colors in darker tones than you usually wear to counteract the bright lights used in photography.

Men should examine their skin and if they have red spots or blemishes, a make-up base should be applied to help hide any flaws.

Men should shave shortly before arriving for their portrait session.

For ladies, you should always wear your make-up the same way you would to a special evening out and not any heavier.

You want to look like yourself and not a cosmetics sales person!

The only thing to be careful of outdoor is if you wear very dark (black-charcoal grey) eyeshadow and you put it over a large portion of your eye lid.

Inside the studio, we can use our studio lights to properly illuminate the eye. Outdoors, the natural lighting and a large area of black eye shadow on your eye lid, make your eyes look recessed and you nose appear to be longer!
